dramatically as a writer and speaker so much so they draw
positive comments from their peers and are often asked to
proofread colleague’s papers.

An Open Letter from the Editorial Staff at APEC University
"Dear Colleague,
We welcome you to APEC University as a valued Student.
I have been asked to explain how we support you and your
development as a good communicator in written English. First
we start with your email. On receiving your email, including
your papers we will edit them for correct English, as a service
to support your development as a writer of English. The way
we do this is simply to redline the written English that can
be improved for grammar and clarity. Next, we will write the
correct words in red. If necessary, comments can be included
to explain the correction, or when substituting a word for
clarity of meaning. If a sentence is not understood, then
we may ask you to explain the meaning. We will only do this
from the standpoint of correct English. We will not do this
because we are seeking to understand your work from a technical
reading; please forgive us in advance if we ask for a better
explanation. Our mission is to support you through your program
as you develop your English language writing ability.
You will find that after two or three papers your thinking
and written expression in English is improving. You will be
learning to use and apply the English language like a ‘native
writer’. You will learn correct English by being taught correctly
through using it to gain your educational goals.
Through using and applying English on a daily basis in reading
and researching texts, articles and books, writing your journal
and course papers you will start to think in English and,
as you make this transition, so you will become much more
comfortable with your spoken and written English.
We recognise that English is not your first language so we
humbly ask not to be concerned about your current level of
expression. Rather, we ask that you look to others who have
gone before you and have successfully completed their program.
We are confident that you too will go on to be successful
in your career, with high income and very enviable life style
through our support for you.
I can confidently predict that you will look back on our
relationship and say that you learned more from our editorial
team that from your time at school in ESL classes.
At the start of your program please write your profile and
look forward to receiving a reply as from a pen friend, who
is committed to supporting your success.
We hope this welcome note is the beginning of a long and
rewarding start to your time at APEC University.
We look forward to meeting you online, and being a valued
member of your support team.
